Lebanon School District should get rid of dress code. I feel students do not follow it properly and it’s not helping anyone.
One of the main problems I see is hoodies. Students wear them to not be cold in the hallways and I don’t see it as a problem.
Also the dress code does not allow students to express their true personality. Which can cause stress, and the feeling of being uncomfortable.
Another stressful aspect of the dress code is the cost of approved clothing. It’s a waste of money, especially if you do not have the money and the clothing is expensive.
When the dress code was put in place, it was intended to end behavior and clothing problems, but I feel the problems are still the same or even worse.
The behavior problems such as fights between students and arguments with teachers are not going to end just by making students wear a certain type of clothing. Everyone should be able to wear what he or she wants to within reason.
Since the dress code is in place students resort to other ways of expressing themselves such as piercings, tattoos, and shoes. This is fine, but sometimes it also causes bullying and arguments between students all because of dress code.
When the dress code was first implemented, students felt a scene of pride to be a school around this area to have a dress code, but now after all these years, it has become a burden for students to uphold the policy.
Overall dress code needs to end. It’s not helping anything and the problems are still here.
